EoS Fitness, known for its treadmill-lined movie theaters and hula dancing classes, is ready to open its second Palm Beach County facility at Legacy Place.

Carousel in Downtown Palm Beach Gardens reopens after renovations
After months of renovations, the carousel at Downtown Palm Beach Gardens reopened to rides on Friday, October 20, 2023.
PALM BEACH GARDENS – A gym with unusual features like a treadmill-lined movie theater and hula dancing lessons will open at Legacy Place in Palm Beach Gardens.
The gym is set to take over the 30,140-square-foot space that formerly housed Best Buy and is located just across the parking lot from the downtown apartments. Best Buy has moved to another location in the shopping plaza.
This will be the second EoS Fitness in Palm Beach County, with its other location off State Road 7 in suburban Boca Raton, and its 10th location in Florida. Pure Barre, which offers workouts using a ballet barre, is the only other fitness business at Legacy Place.

EoS Fitness offers exercise classes unlike other gyms
Legacy Place, an open-air retail and residential complex with 384 multifamily units, sold for $101 million in 2021 to Boca Raton-based Woolbright Development and Dallas-based Lone Star Funds.
The plaza at PGA Boulevard and Alternate State Road A1A did strong business after opening in 2006 but struggled to attract customers due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the rise of e-commerce. Many signature stores, such as Best Buy and Barnes & Noble, do most of their business online.
Since then, efforts to bring new tenants to the center have met with uneven results. EoS Fitness is expected to bring a new clientele to the centre.
The Palm Beach Gardens Planning and Zoning Board unanimously recommended approval of the gym in mid-October. The City Council is expected to vote to approve or reject the ordinance at its next meeting on Nov. 2.
Legacy Place has already updated its website directoryHe says Eos Fitness is “coming soon.”
The gym features personal trainers, yoga and cycling classes, and a backyard where members can work out in the sun. Each gym also has a hot tub, sauna, massage chairs and an indoor swimming pool. Membership fees at EoS Fitness start at $9.99 per month and annual membership costs $49.99.
“We find that many people have very specific fitness needs,” said Nicole Plunkett of Cotleur & Hearing, the agent representing the project. “EoS Fitness will complement not only those who visit the centre, but also those who visit the centre.”

Legacy Place expects more restaurants and businesses to open soon
City planner Christopher Oftedal expressed concern about the future success of Legacy Place, saying he drives by often and gets the feeling it’s “completely empty.” He currently voted to recommend bringing EoS Fitness to the center.
“Is there a long-term strategy, or are we just going to put a Band-Aid on Legacy Place?” Oftedal asked this question at the meeting in mid-October.
Legacy Place’s retail space is currently 70% occupied, said Amanda Kennedy-Sita, Woolbright Development’s vice president of acquisitions.
Kennedy-Sita hopes to reach 90% occupancy by the end of the year. By then, he expects two large restaurants, a cafe and other small “mom-and-pop” stores to come to Legacy Place.
