A beauty salon with a public observation deck – Kakamigahara is surrounded by water and trees – We planned a new beauty salon in Kakamigahara City, Gifu Prefecture. Kakamigahara City is located where the Nagara River, one of Japan’s three great clean rivers, flows to the north, and the Kiso River, chosen as one of the 100 most famous waters, flows to the south. In addition, there are “Learning Forest”, “Natural Heritage Forest (Forest Nature Park),” “Kakamigahara Alps Japan Line Unuma Forest” etc. within the water vein. It is located in an area surrounded by water and trees.

A small forest surrounds the building and the use of abundant groundwater – This region is rich in groundwater. All of Kakamigahara City’s tap water comes from groundwater pumped 20 to 40 meters below ground. Water is a cycle in which sea water evaporates and becomes a cloud, rains on the land, flows back to the sea as a river, becomes groundwater, and comes to the surface as spring water. Since it is predicted that there is an aquifer 20 meters underground near the area, a well was drilled and a landscape was created where groundwater, a local resource, was brought to the surface in the form of a water basin. a larger water cycle. Free well water is automatically poured into the basin at regular intervals and used to irrigate the “little forest” planted around the building. “Little forest” trees allow views and sunlight to filter through the interior and the upstairs roof terrace, while providing a decent amount of privacy to the glass-covered interior.

Open up the loft and create a terrace for everyone – The first floor will have the necessary functions for a beauty salon, such as a reception and cutting area. The large attic space with a single-pitched roof has been converted into a place where people can go upstairs, and the entire building has been transformed into a second-floor terrace with a roof as outdoor space. While the first floor is occupied by functions, customers can use the second floor freely by the salon staff while waiting and during breaks in the beauty salon.

“Galandou” with no walls – semi-outdoor terrace on the second floor – The second floor is a semi-exterior terrace without walls; It creates an open space that allows wind, light and aboveground plant branches to penetrate. The longitudinal load-bearing wall facing the parking lot was constructed with wooden supports instead of opaque walls, creating a bright space. In the short direction, the climbing beams of the single-pitched roof are used as diagonal members instead of cross members, eliminating the need for load-bearing walls separating longitudinal spaces. In the longitudinal direction of the underwater side, the columns are passed through, ensuring that the columns are resistant to bending, so that no support is used.
